The Worlds of Alfonso the Learned and James the Conqueror

Appendix: Genealogical Tables, Alfonso X and James I

[211] The following simplified family trees show the main relationships between Alfonso and James. They adapt the sequence of births to the requirements of a crowded outline, and they omit a number of siblings and spouses. Some names are in English (including Alfonso as English), where custom or this book's usage has made that form more familar.

Abbreviations used are br. (brother), d. (died), div. (divorced), dt. (daughter), m. (married), and n. (niece). Italicized names mark spouses entering a main family in the table (usually Alfonso's or James's) from without. Full capitals highlight Alfonso and James, each at the center of his respective family; capitals and small capitals
indicate more important individuals in the lines of the two kings.
